Q How long does my natural hair need to be to have Natural Hair Extensions?
A Ideally your hair should be at least 6 inches long but Natural Hair Extensions can be applied to hair that’s a minimum of 3 inches long. Applying hair extensions to very short hair raises issues with blending and styling options; this can be discussed during your hair extension consultation.
Q How exactly are Natural Hair Extensions attached?
A Natural Hair Extensions are attached by adding extension hair, a few strands at a time, with cotton. Absolutely no chemicals, adhesives or heated tools are used during the Natural Hair Extension application or removal process.
Q How exactly are Natural Hair Extensions removed?
A Natural Hair Extensions are removed by gently sliding cotton down the hair shaft whilst holding the top of the hair extension attachment. This extremely gentle removal procedure means you experience no discomfort or damage during your hair extension removal session
Q How Long does it take to have Natural Hair Extensions fitted
A Depending on the length, thickness and health of your hair you have the choice of 2 extension sessions. The first option is the ‘Standard Natural Hair Extension Session’ is up to 5 hours and the second option is the ‘Tailored Natural Extension Session’ which takes, on average, 7 – 10 hours.
Q Can I remove Natural Hair Extension myself?
A You can remove Natural Hair Extensions by yourself but it is ALWAYS recommended you return to Shannel for a professional Hair Extension removal session.
Q Should I ‘rest’ my hair between hair extensions services?
A The Natural Hair Extension service is entirely natural and causes no damage to the hair or scalp. You do not need to ‘rest’ your hair in between Natural Hair Extension applications because it does not exert any toll on your hair and scalp.
Q Can I reuse the extension hair?
A Yes. Do your best to keep your extension hair in top condition and you will be able to reuse it. Bear in mind that every time you reuse your extension hair it will be an inch and a half shorter because of the Natural Hair Extension application process.
Q How far in advance should I have hair extensions prior to my wedding day?
A It is best to have the Natural Hair Extensions fitted around 4 weeks before the big day. This gives you time for your stylist to trial your final look for the big day. If you do not have a stylist Shannel can recommend a stylist who is used to working with Natural Hair Extensions.
Q What about the cut and Finish of the Natural Hair Extensions?
A Shannel is a specialist in hair extensions and hair loss solutions. For your cut and finish it is recommended that you visit an experienced stylist for an expert finish, this ensures you end up with the best possible result. Cutting hair extensions is slightly different to cutting natural hair; during your consultation Shannel can recommend stylists she knows personally who are use to working with Natural Hair Extensions.
Q Do I have to have a consultation prior to the Natural Hair Extension Service?
A Yes. It is very important to have a consultation. During the consultation you have the opportunity to ask questions and have sample hair extensions fitted. A colour match record is kept and at this point we can make arrangements to order your extension hair. You are also given a 10 point ‘Hair Extension Health Check’ so we can establish whether you are a suitable candidate for the Natural Hair Extension Service. We are based in London and easy to find.
Q Do you offer a ‘half head’ option with Natural Hair Extensions?
A It’s difficult to define what exactly half a head of hair extensions is so Shannel offers a 5 hour Standard Natural Hair Extensions service for clients who require a half head of hair extensions.
Q Are Natural Hair Extensions 100% natural?
A Yes. We only use only cotton to apply Natural Hair Extensions; absolutely nothing else, so you can be sure Natural Hair Extension will be gentle on your own hair and scalp.
Q I do not live in London / Great Britain, how I get the Natural Hair Extension Service?
A Yes. Please email us and we’ll make all the arrangements.
Q I cut my hair very short recently, can I still have the Natural Hair Extension Service?
A Yes, you can still have the Natural Hair Extension service but you may have limited styling options. Shannel will be able to clearly explain what to expect from your hair extension style during your hair extension consultation.

Q How will you match my hair colour to the Hair Extensions?
A To match your hair colour to the extension hair we use fibre swatches and then order from these references. Using colour swatches allows Shannel to achieve a ‘true colour’ match. If it is not possible to match your hair colour with a colour swatch we can take a sample of your hair to match the extension hair exactly to your own hair colour.
Q What’s the longest length I can wear my Hair Extensions?
A The extension hair is generally available up to 26 inches. It may be possible to get a longer length of extension hair by special order
Q Can Natural Hair Extensions be used to add volume instead of length?
A Yes. For extra volume request a Standard Natural Hair Extension Service.
Q Can I add highlights using Natural Hair Extensions?
A You can add slices of colour and highlights throughout your hair with Natural Hair Extensions.
Q Will anyone be able to tell I’m wearing Hair Extensions?
A Natural Hair Extensions blend perfectly with your own hair so no one will know you are wearing hair extensions at all, even if they look closely.
Q I have Afro hair and relax it every 6-
A You can continue to relax your hair whilst wearing Natural Hair Extensions though it is advisable that you only retouch your crown area. Ensure that all chemicals are thoroughly rinsed from your hair. During your consultation Shannel will explain how you can safely proceed with chemical services whilst wearing Natural Hair Extensions.
Q Will my hair blend in with the extension hair?
A The main factor we consider when choosing your extension hair is your own hair type, if you have naturally wavy hair we will recommend wavy extension hair, if you have straight hair we will recommend straight extension hair. So if you get caught in a surprise shower your natural hair and your extension hair will revert to it’s (matching)original hair type.
Q Once the hair extensions are in, will they feel heavy?
A When your hair extensions are first applied you will notice they are there, but after a couple of days it will feel exactly like your own hair.

Q Can I colour my hair whilst wearing Natural Hair Extensions?
A Yes. Most clients wearing Natural Hair Extensions touch up their crown area as normal but you can retouch the your entire your hair if you choose. Natural Hair Extensions are applied in neat, rows so it will be easy for your colourist to section. If using bleach or hair lightening agents, ask your colourist to avoid the actual bound attachments as these chemicals can weaken the thread over time. Some colourists choose not to offer colour services to clients wearing hair extensions. Shannel can recommend colourists her routinely work hair extensions.
Q How long will my Hair Extensions last?
A Your Hair Extensions will last until you decide to take them out, at some point
they will grow down so far they become visible and that is normally the point at
which a client decides to remove them. On average clients wear Natural Hair Extensions

Q Can I wash my hair daily whilst wearing Natural Hair Extensions?
A The Natural Hair Extension attachments are extremely secure and daily washing will not weaken the attachments. You are also free to use deep conditioning and hot oil treatments as these will not cause the hair extension attachments to deteriorate.
Q I work out daily, will my hair extensions fall out if I sweat a lot?
A The Natural Hair Extension attachments will not deteriorate if you sweat. In fact the hair extension attachments are so strong they are not vulnerable to any external elements including oils, heat and water.
Q Can I swim whilst wearing Natural Hair Extensions?
A Yes, your hair extensions attachments will not be vulnerable to chlorine or salt water but remember to protect your extension hair to stop any risk of dry or brittle hair.
Q Will sun bed sessions or sunbathing affect the hair extensions?
A The Natural Hair Extension attachments are not vulnerable to heat, just remember to protect your extension hair with a Leave In Conditioner or suitable hair product with a sun protection factor.
Q Can I use hair straightners and hair dryers with my hair extensions?
A The Natural Hair Extension attachments can withstand the same heat as natural hair so you are free to use and heated styling tool you choose. Just remember to protect the extension hair with suitable products.
Q Do I have to use specific products to maintain my hair extensions?
A No, you are free to use any products you desire. During your consultation Shannel can recommend some fantastic products that work well with hair extensions.
Q Are Natural Hair Extensions difficult to look after?
A No, Natural Hair Extensions are extremely to look after. During your consultation you will receive clear and simple advice on how to keep your new hair extensions fabulous.
Q Is it okay to let my hair extensions dry naturally?
A Yes and because Shannel matches your natural hair texture with the extension hair you should be able to wash and go with minimal fuss.
Q How do I wash my hair whilst wearing Natural Hair Extensions?
A Whilst wearing Natural Extensions it’s best to wash your hair in the shower. Washing hair extensions with your head in an upright position helps prevent tangling.
Q Can I thoroughly brush my hair whilst wearing Natural Hair Extensions?
A Yes, daily brushing and combing is essential for keeping your hair extensions in top condition and prevent matting and tangling. During your consultation we can recommend brushes designed to be used with hair extensions.
Q Can I leave my hair extensions loose when I go to sleep or is it best to tie it up at night?
A You leave your hair extensions loose or tie it up depending on what suits you. To keep the actual extension hair in the best condition it is better to tie it up or sleep on a silk pillowcase. Cotton bedding absorbs moisture drying out skin and hair so it tying it up or sleeping on a less absorbent surface will help keep extension hair glossy.
Q Do Natural Hair Extensions shed a lot?
A Natural Hair Extensions very rarely start to shed, and if they do, it will be after around 150 days of wear. The Natural Hair Extension attachments are extremely secure so you can feel confident with your new hair.
Q Will my hair extension attachments change colour over time?
A The Natural Hair Extension attachment is just cotton and extension hair so it will not change colour throughout wear.
Q Will my regular stylist be able to work with Natural Hair Extensions?
A Your regular stylist should have no problem working with Natural Hair Extensions. Because the attachments are just extension hair and cotton, the attachments are not vulnerable to heat or products and are extremely secure.
